Colon Cleansing: What Can You Do To Accompany It?
- extra notes
Colon
Cleansing is the number one activity I recommend detoxify
the body. This is mainly because, having seen the poor state of
colons from pictures taken during operations and from x-rays, I am
certain that keeping the colon working well is something vital that
we should all do.
However, the Liver comes a close second in a list
of organs which need support when we want to keep detoxification
working well. The reason why liver cleansing is
second to colon cleansing is that the liver is the most vital organ
in the body to take toxins and convert them to harmless substances
which can be excreted. It generally does this by split the toxins
up and then adding ions to make the part water soluble. Once they
will dissolve in water, they can be easily routed to the bowel or
kidneys for excretion.
What are toxins?
Toxins are either those naturally occurring from body processes -
such as uric acid, which is formed by the activity of muscles; or
it can be those from external sources, such as pollution breathed
in or traces of chemical fertilizers often found in food. The liver
also breaks down and excretes drugs. These might be prescribed
drugs; they might also be residues of, for example, antibiotics
traces of which are found in farmed meat.
So, although I put the Colon first in importance
for cleansing the body - largely because things demonstrably go
wrong in the colon for some people; without the liver the colon
could not excrete toxins as it does, because it is the liver which
enable this to happen.
How Do Toxins Get To The
Bowel? The way that some toxins are routed to the bowel
after detoxification by the liver is via the bile. Bile contains
substances which 'emulsify' fats - rather like washing up liquid
emulsifies oils in the washing up bowl. It also contains toxin
breakdown products which the liver channels to the bowel, probably
because it cannot get them to the kidneys.
How Do The Kidneys
Work? Many toxin breakdown products can be routed to
the kidneys, though, and this is done via the blood stream. The
kidneys act as a huge 'colander'. They squeeze out all the
components of the blood except the largest particles, which they
retain. They then reabsorb, selectively, water, salt, minerals, and
other components, as determined by osmosis and by hormones, which
the body's systems are constantly adjusting.
This is such a massive and a fantastic job that it
is wise to give the kidneys some support periodically. One great
way to do this is to follow our excellent 90-day Kidney Programme.
90 days is long enough to give a good, solid amount of support to
these vital organs.
The Ideal Detox For The
Body Colon cleansing, liver cleansing and kidney
cleansing form an excellent programme of health support which can
make sure the body's vital detox functions work as well as they
can.
